Torre del Lago
Torre del Lago itself is modest and is a tranquil place all year round in the green plain between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Apuan Alps. A visit to the Puccini Festival on Tuscany’s largest lake, the Lago di Massaciuccoli, is a very special experience. Puccini fell in love with this small natural paradise and made his home in his magnificent villa, which now houses a museum. His wish to experience one of his operas under the open sky was not granted to him during his lifetime, but thanks to the Puccini Festival, we can now be very close to the master in the place where his heart was.
The festival venue Torre del Lago is easy to reach from both the elegant seaside resort of Viareggio and the appealing cultural city of Lucca. Would you like to combine the enjoyment of music with a stay on the beach and a cappuccino in Puccini’s favorite café, the Art Nouveau jewel "Gran Cafe Margherita", or would you prefer to follow in Puccini’s footsteps on the imposing city walls of Lucca? The choice is not easy, both options have proven themselves and have their charm. Fortunately, Tuscany is always worth a new trip.
